Most frequent questions and answers

When quoting for your switchboard requirements, we will work with you to meet your timeframes. We do ask that realistic timeframes are provided. Small to medium jobs are often quoted within 24 hours, whereas a large-scale job with multiple switchboards can take 2-3 weeks. For urgent quotes, we will do our best to get them to you as fast as possible.

When receiving our quote, please read the quote carefully. If there is anything that you don’t understand, please call us to discuss.

Depending on our drawing technicians’ current workload and the project’s complexity, drawings can take anywhere from three days to a month. We work hard to ensure that we get the majority of the drawings correct in the first instance (which takes a bit of time) to help prevent any back and forth.

Where we have asked for information to complete the drawing set, we cannot continue or proceed until we have this information, so we ask that you provide a prompt reply to any request to help us progress your drawings.

Manufacturing timeframes can depend on numerous issues:

  1. Delays in drawing approval – it is unlikely that we will order parts and equipment before we have a set of approved drawings.
  2. Stock – Switchboard Solution’s holds a large inventory to manufacture switchboards urgently when required. However, large projects often require products to be ordered from overseas, with a lead time of approximately 4-8 weeks.
  3. Manufacturing – Once we have approved drawings and the stock has arrived, we need time to manufacture your custom-made switchboards.

Considering all the above, we will always do our best to meet your deadline and timeframes, so call us to see what is possible. For one of our clients, we manufactured a 1600A switchboard in two days out of stocked equipment, so urgent switchboard builds are possible.

Switchboard Solutions is flexible regarding what brand of switchgear we use. Whist we have preferences, we will always provide the best product at the best price to our clients. Whether you prefer ABB, Terasaki or Schneider, we are happy to build to suit your switchboard preferences.

The majority of switchboard manufacturers have one or maybe two working shareholders in the business. Switchboard Solutions has four working shareholders in the business, so you know that at anytime, if you need to get a hold of a key stakeholder, you can!

Switchboard Solutions provides full manufacturing compliance to AS/NZS 3439 and AS/NZS 61439. The AS/NZS 3439 standard was due to be replaced in May 2021 by AS/NZS 61439; however, there have been delays in siting the new standard. Consultant engineers are currently specifying to both the new and old standard and we manufacture to the standard requested by our client or engineer, delivering high quality and efficient builds.

Over the past 24 months, the staff at Switchboard Solutions have upskilled on the new AS/NZS 61439 Standard and are ready to move forward when this change occurs in 2022/23.

Switchboard Solutions staff are expertly trained to ensure quality and consistency across the manufacturing process. Throughout the switchboard build, the job manager must sign off at numerous stages. Combined with a three-person testing regime, our quality control system ensures the consistent delivery of safe and accurately-built products to meet our clients’ expectations.
